Gypsy photographic exhibition, Rivington Place, Sat 23 June 2012, 3pm-4pm. Styling itself as a Curator’s Tour of Roma-Sinti-Kalé -Manush, the event may as well be entitled in Martian. But Loving Dalston is here to interpret: hence the prosaic first three words of this note. Curator Christine Eyene will introduce this group exhibition at Rivington Place Shoreditch EC2A 3BA (020 7749 1240), which looks at the Gypsy ethnic groups known as Roma, Sinti and Kalé and their representation in photography, visual arts and news media. The show brings together a variety of documentary and artistic approaches, such as Danica Dakic’s highly posed La Grande Galerie 1 above.
