TWO YOUNG women were taken to hospital after a hit-and-run at Crossway, Dalston N16, during a police chase early today Sunday 24 February 2013.
Police found a vehicle and have opened an enquiry into the accident. They are seeking witnesses to the accident, which happened when a group of friends was following the green-man sign on the pedestrian crossing, walking towards the Sömine restaurant.
Diners were in the restaurant when the two pedestrians were hit by the pursued car as it turned right suddenly from Kingsland Road, driving southwest into Crossway.
The car paused, then raced off. Police who found it later were told that the owner had not been in the vehicle during the chase.
One of the woman is being treated by Whitechapel Hospital for lacerations to the leg, the other for a brain injury.
Anyone with information that might help should contact the police by phoning 101.
