HACKNEY WICK, above, is almost a London secret. One of the liveliest areas in the capital, its name still doesn’t resonate like Shoreditch and Dalston. But how many districts have a classical ensemble in residence?
The Cre8 Life Style Centre does, and the outfit, the Estilo String Quartet, will stage a show in the former public bathing rooms to launch their new album, Marriage in an Orange Grove, next month. Profits will go to the Rainforest Foundation UK.
Audience members will be invited to spin a wheel to choose tracks for Estilo to perform. They will also perform Astor Piazzolla’s Four for Tango, Mozart’s First Quartet and a piece based on an Oscar Wilde poem.
