TO MOVIEGOERS at the Hackney Picturehouse, Kelby Keenan, above, is one of the staff. But the Hackneyite is far more involved in cinema: she is also an actress and producer.
If Cassette opens in January as scheduled, Keenan will be going to New York in January 2017 to publicise it.
The film cost a mere £2,000 to make so, as what she terms “a super-low-budget feature”, promoting it to American journalists will be difficult. But persistence is essential in show business, and she hopes to move to Los Angeles eventually.
Some people — eg, my editor — consider LA a polluted traffic-jammed dullsville crammed with waiters who would rather talk about their last screen test than fetch you the dish you now despair of ever eating.
