THESE ARE THE FIRST pictures showing work to repair the leaky London Fields lido.
Above, at the start of the job, scaffolding is being inserted after the pool has been stripped of its floor and wall tiles.
GLL/Better, which runs the 50m, heated outdoor pool, says that the render that fixed the tiles in place has failed, which has caused tiles to come off the pool walls. All tiles would have to be replaced.
Loving Dalston can throw no further light on progress because the supplier of the photographs would not provide information.
The lido closed on Sunday 9 April 2017 and is due, says owner Hackney council, to reopen “this summer”. The town hall is still being coy about whether compensation will be sought from the contractor that restored the lido just over a decade ago.
The worry is that the issue has been put in the too-hard basket, or in the dustbin.
