Crossing Scout Scar, just outside Kendal: it can be difficult not to stop to gaze in wonder at the beauty of the Cumbrian landscape

* UPDATE 060517: The winner of the contest is Harriet Addison.

WE’VE ALL fantasised about a few days in Cumbria, especially now that our fallen pound has made European holidays a lot dearer.

Loving Dalston can go some way to helping with that fantasy by giving you the chance to win a double pass, with complementary drink, to the Rio Cinema for a night of award-winning films,. And you’ll be able to enjoy some dramatic stories from British explorers and Jenny Tough and Dave Cornthwaite.

Dalston has been chosen as one of the stops for the Kendal Mountain Festival on its 2017 UK tour partly because, as we all know — ahem — there is in Cumbria a village called Dalston (which has long had a place in Loving Dalston’s heart).

And the Kendal Mountain Festival, Visit England’s Tourism Event of the Year 2014 (to give it the full mouthful), is playing at the Rio on Wednesday 7 June 2017 at 8pm.
