STREET FEAST is moving from Dalston to a venue on the edge of Hackney Downs, under the railway that passes to the west of the park.
Tonight Friday 14 September will be the last time that 500 or so hungry hipsters and others crowd into a roofless derelict warehouse in a tiny street off Dalston Lane E8 3DU between 5pm and midnight to select from a variety of tastes offered by 15 or 16 stalls
At the new roofed location, Hackney Downs Studios E5 8QJ, there will be acoustic sets from unsigned acts and film screenings, for which viewers will use headphones to hear the soundtrack. Arts, crafts and fashion stalls will be presented by Netil Market and Designers/Makers, and a soft-play area will be provided for children.
A reservations service will offer more than 100 seats. Also available will be a private dining room with iPod-friendly sound system for groups of eight to 12. Can’t have the affluent mixing with the effluent, can we?
The venue is described by progenitor Dominic Cools-Lartigue as an autumn-and-winter residency. He said: “Keeping Street Feast in Hackney is important so that it can continue to grow as a community event.”
