A Hackney artist looks at London Fields

IF YOU visit London Fields this weekend, you might like to pop into a nearby exhibition of work by 30 artists that includes sketches of the area by Tony Coombs. Charmingly, his partner Elsie Pilbeam also features.

As a Hackneyite Coombs has been offering his interpretation of the area for years. His latest pictures are, as ever, full of movement. Perhaps it’s something about Hackney: Leon Kossoff’s recent Shoreditch and Dalston sketches show a similar trait.
