NEW YEAR, new attitude… what better time to try to lose weight? And you and your partner can do so on TV.
Shed the kilos on camera and you might even become minor celebrities, nattering away on chat-show sofas and, uhm, spending the rest of your life trying not to get big again.
As so often with minor reality shows, no payment is involved, but Primrose Hill firm Renegade Pictures, which is making Weight For Love for BBC1, says participants will not be out of pocket: the crew “will go to them and all expenses will be covered”.
A team is due to visit Hackney to meet potential couples over the next few weeks. If one from Hackney is chosen, the two will be filmed around the area. Filming would be organised around their schedules so they could continue with their jobs and other commitments.
Casting assistant producer Paul Braund tell Loving Dalston that Hackney is one of the areas focused on in the search for weight-loss wannabes. Some of us will not be quite sure how to take that.
He says that to film enough material for the four episodes should take a few hours a week over four or five months. The series would probably be broadcast this autumn 2015.
He adds: “We’re looking for strong characters who would like to lose weight in a fun way, with experts and a production team helping and encouraging them.”
