Women rock in Dalston – whatever the biz says

ROCK’N’ROLL started off wanting to change the world but after a few upheavals eased itself into an old age about as challenging as a multimillionaire pop star publicly pushing his record company for a bigger percentage.

The use of the male gender there is deliberate: decades on, the business is dominated by men. When Florence Welch, for example, was chosen to headline at Glastonbury, it was considered exceptional. She was a substitute after a cancellation – by a man.

Finding the Female Headliners (FTFH) and charity partner the Eve Appeal have decided to take on this sexist if not conservative industry with a monthly residency in Dalston presenting exclusively woman-fronted bands and female performers.

Headline acts include Daisy Victoria, Hannah Lou Clark, Dios Mios and DJ  Nadine Shah. Yep, all female.

The charity is involved because it wants to boost awareness of five women-only cancers.
