Play it again, Weavers: playspace gets makeover

A FIRM of structural engineers is to give a makeover to a popular play space that has fallen into the kind of state you’d expect after 40 years of hosting the young and boisterous.

Weavers Adventure Playground asked Heyne Tillett Steel (HTS) for help and the Clerkenwell firm agreed to replace rotten and damaged timber structures in the playground and community hub at no charge.

HTS volunteers will do the repairs, with help from its youthful users. One of their jobs will be to choose new colours and create murals.

The engineers think they may also be able to extend the structures or even create a “new and exciting” feature in the playground, which was set up in 1974.
