ANY EVENT with Hackney eminence Newton Dunbar deserves attention. Hence this story on the second Dalston Music Festival.
The reggae champion and Four Aces Club founder will be on the bill with Sam Willis’s Primitive World , folk-pop trio BAS JAN, Hackney’s own Super Best Friends Club, synth-drum duo Soccer96, experimental beat-makers Mhah Mos, and ethereal electronic producer La Leif.
The Gillett Square stage will host free live music from Ruby Rushton, Roger Robinson and Disrupt, Soul Jazz Records soundsystem ft Oxman (phew) and Dunbar.
The other live music venues from 6pm, all within a two-minute walk, are Pond Dalston, Dalston Boys Club, Servant Jazz Quarters, Dalston Jazz Bar, Stamford Works and Arcola (a 10-minute walk) that one.
The first was held last year 2015.
