The useful and cheap junk shop a few metres west of Hackney Downs station in Dalston Lane closed today. Its owner, whom I knew only as Mr Besz, has retired. The store, as well as being a great purveyor of secondhand household necessities, from chairs to cutlery, was also good for collectibles. The premises are now available to rent.

Yes, I’ve been watching the planning applications. (Life at the edge, eh?) Will re-look into junk; ta.
In case you didn’t know, the shop is on it’s way to becoming a Tesco Express. However, the junk shop seems to have reappeared in the smaller unit next door.
