Hackney Picturehouse adds art to its attractions

AN ART gallery opening in Hackney is not news. Except when it’s in a multimillion-pound luxury venue with a cinema multiplex – the likelihood of a good number of visitors is high.
Though the GalleryHackPH is at the Hackney Picturehouse (see picture), curator Miloslav Vorlicek says it is “an independent exhibition space” – three, actually, on various floors – that aims “to showcase the artworks reflecting the diversity of Hackney borough and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”. That seems to cover enough ground to raise the hopes of a lot of artists.
All three spaces can also be used for audiovisual exhibitions on the first Thursday of the month.
