STILL REELING from, if not disturbed by, the Loving Dalston report that London Fields is rated the 11th Most Glamorous Place to Live in the UK?
Well, brace yourself, a Shoreditch shock has been delivered.
The hipster quarter is supposedly the sixth of 30 Best Places To Live If You’re Single. The Times commented that “the hipsters, bars and trendy nightclubs moved in a decade ago — and the hoteliers and celebrities followed”. Shoreditch House and the Ace Hotel “compete for the cool crowd ”.
But isn’t the Ditch too pricey to be the sixth-best place for a single to look for a home?
Apparently not: the list compiler says a single can still get a “small terrace house for £600,000” or a penthouses for £2.5 million.
Ah, that must be “single” as in Kylie Minogue-single.

The list admits that property in that area just north of the City is not cheap, adding that locals are mostly wealthy first-time buyers, bankers, foreigners and celebrities.
Yes, you might bump into actors working at St Leonard’s church on Rev or people like Alexa Chung. (Actually, in that instance, “such as” would definitely be better than “like”. Nobody’s like Miss C.)
Oh, and top of the best-for-singles table is Tooting. Somewhere in South London is the answer. Yes, bridges and tunnels to get anywhere.
