LAST YEAR people camped out in Shoreditch on a Friday night for a chance the next morning to buy an original artwork by a big name for £45.
This year Loving Dalston is warning you early about what you have to do if you missed a bargain buy last year.
The concept, entitled Secret 7”, is that hundreds of professional and amateur artists have redesigned the covers of seven vinyl singles for a sale, proceeds to the charity War Child. The catch is that until you’ve paid your £45 you won’t know which artwork you’ve bought.
Among the one-off record-sleeve designers are Robert (Massive Attack) Del Naja, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Antony Gormley, Stanley “Radiohead” Donwood and Paul Smith.
The performers and singles intended to inspire the designers are:
Lorde, Team; Jake Bugg, Strange Creatures; T-Rex, Get It On; Massive Attack, Karmacoma; Elbow, Grounds For Divorce; Black Sabbath, Age Of Reason; Roxy Music, Virginia Plain.
